SWFWMD Lake Hancock Lake Level Modification Structure Replacement

Owner: Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD)

Date Completed: September 2013

Project Summary: The goal of this project was to raise the elevation of Lake Hancock to provide additional storage which can be slowly released during the dry season. These additional releases aid in meeting established minimum flows downstream in the Peace River. This was accomplished by replacing the existing P-11 control structure with a new structure and embankment system which is capable of controlling and discharging minimum flows and levels as well as providing flood control.
